If you aren’t yet familiar with Little Dragon, it’s only a matter of time. Hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden Little Dragon are kicking up dust and leaving a whirlwind behind. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly where the international attention started, but one could say it is attributed to the combination of overseas touring, rave reviews on their 2007 release Machine Dreams, and collection of high profile friends accumulated along the way. In fact, Little Dragon was asked to collaborate on two tracks from last year’s Plastic Beach by Gorrillaz. The two collaborated songs quickly became Pitchfork’s favourites, describing them as “two of the most arresting things here; they’re airy, elusive and amazingly beautiful”.

The upcoming album Ritual Union promises to combine the jazzy, whimsical vibes of their debut LP while maintaining the upfront and danceable sounds of the widely loved Machine Dreams. Recorded on their own at the Seal Colonie in Gothenburg, the album holds what sounds to be their most club-friendly track to date. The follow-up to what has been described as a “superb second album…it’s magic” by Dazed & Confused is slated for release July 26th 2011.
